Fashion and beauty are my huge part of my life. However, with all of the work I’ve been doing , I have been neglecting my health. It is showing. So I decided to incorporate a beauty goal with health goals to end this year right and kick off 2012 on a healthier and more beautiful foot!

I joined a healthy hair challenge created by the Delaware Naturalistas. This hair challenge incorporates establishing healthy hair habits along with healthy eating and exercise habits as well. A healthy body means healthier hair growth. This is what I am striving for. Ever since I went natural I’ve been chopping off my hair when it would begin to grow because it was hard to style and maintain. Now I want to let it grow and see it’s full healthy potential. Not only that, I want to be healthier as well and lose much-needed weight to get my hypertension under control and ward of diabetes which runs in my family.

Even though my hair challenge is for African-Americans or those of African descent who are wearing their hair in its natural texture, there are hair challenges for all hair types. I have listed a few that I know about in an article I wrote touting the benefits of joining a hair challenge. New York Fashion Week is Less Than a Week Away

It’s that time of year again for the four major fashion weeks, New York/London/Milan/Paris, to show their spring collections for 2012. I am excited that Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week will start next week on September 8, 2011! The spring shows are always my favorite as there is more range freedom I feel when dressing for spring for summer.

There have been schedule changes due to hurricane Irene such as Marc Jacobs’ show moving to the final day of the event from September 11, 2011. One designer I am thrilled to see return to NYFW is Zac Posen! He left us for Paris for a couple of years but he is now home where he belongs! I am also interested to see what newcomer, J. Crew has to offer to the event. I am saddened that Marchesa will not be showing their spring 2012 collection in New York.If you can remember their 2011 spring show was amazing with gorgeous gowns designed with precision.
